Personal information we collect

Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:

  • Contact details: your name, delivery and billing address, phone number and email address.
  • Order and payment information: what you buy, the options you choose, delivery preferences, returns, and payment details. Card details are handled by our payment providers; we do not store your full card number.
  • Account information: your login details, preferences and order history, if you create an account.
  • Communications: what you tell us by email, phone, WhatsApp, our contact and fabric sample forms, or in our shops.
  • Device and usage information: your IP address, browser and device, and how you use our website, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

We collect this information directly from you, automatically when you use our website, and from our service providers (for example payment providers confirming your payment).

How we use your information, and our legal basis

  • To take, deliver and support your order (including arranging your delivery date by phone, returns, mattress removal and customer service): to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep records for tax and accounting: to meet our legal obligations.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the Services secure: our legitimate interests in protecting our customers and our business.
  • To run and improve our website and Services (for example analytics and understanding which products interest customers): our legitimate interests, and your consent where cookies require it.
  • To send you marketing emails and show you personalised adverts: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see "Your choices" below).

Who we share your information with

We share personal information only where needed, with:

  • Shopify, which hosts our website and processes orders.
  • Payment providers: Shopify Payments, including Shop Pay and Klarna, to process your payment. If you pay cash on delivery, your payment is taken by our delivery team.
  • Delivery: our own delivery team and, for some products, the supplier or delivery partner who delivers your order directly.
  • Service providers who help us run the Services, such as apps for product options, shipping rates and payments, and IT and customer support tools.
  • Advertising and analytics partners, such as Google and Meta, where you have agreed to marketing cookies.
  • Trustpilot, if you choose to review us there; and WhatsApp (Meta), if you contact us by WhatsApp.
  • Others where the law requires, for example to respond to legal requests, or in connection with a sale or reorganisation of our business.

We do not sell your personal information.

Relationship with Shopify

Our website is hosted by Shopify, which processes personal information about your use of the Services in order to provide and improve them. To help protect and improve our business, we use certain Shopify features that use information about your interactions with our store, other merchants and Shopify; for these, Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information. You can read more in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and exercise rights with Shopify at privacy.shopify.com.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make our website work, to remember your basket, to understand how the website is used, and, with your consent, for marketing. When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the "Your privacy choices" link at the bottom of every page.

How long we keep your information

  • Order records: 6 years after the end of the tax year of the order, as required for tax and accounting.
  • Your account: until you ask us to close it.
  • Marketing: until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent.
  • Customer service messages: as long as needed to resolve your query and any follow-up.

International transfers

Some of our service providers, including Shopify, may process your information outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on recognised safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or on the country having been found to provide an adequate level of protection.

Security

We use appropriate measures to protect your information, but no method of sending or storing data is completely secure. Please don't send sensitive information, such as card numbers, by email or WhatsApp.

Children

Our Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights and choices

Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct or delete it;
  • receive a copy of it in a portable format, or ask us to transfer it;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent (this does not affect what we did before you withdrew it).

To unsubscribe from marketing emails, use the link in any of our emails. We will still send you emails about your orders. To use any of your other rights, email us at info@bedworld.net. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within one month.
